why is hyer crying??

cuz she just got dunked on!!! HOLY COW i just experienced my first TINA rainstorm and the streets are flooded and my shoes are flooded and my pants are soaked!!  This is super nuts.  And I love it!!

lol, don´t worry, not a tear has been shed since arriving in Tina, I just needed a catchy subject line.  Do it for the gram/subject line lol.

aight sooo... we had a zone conference!  and we had to stand in front of the whole zone and introduce ourselves in spanish lol so I got up to go and spread the sweet message of my nombre and heritage and whatnot and after I was done the ZL raised his hand and asked, "¿eres una hippie?"  lol it took me a second to process and then just kinda chuckled to mi mismo and smh (shake my head) and yeah.  EVen in missionary attire sin (without) dreadlocks the people  just know I guess.  but like, I´m not a hippie doe.

ummm... que mas..

OH!  I´m basically a native and the people love me because I have clear eyes and am tall (compared to them bahaha) and so they´re all very patient with my broken spanish and it´s awesome (insert lady with waiter hand emoji)

It´s so fun getting used to all the different cultural things here.  Like we were giving a lesson to an investigator and heard a knock at the door!  He jumped up and said something super rapido in spanish and answered the door. THE DUDE AT THE DOOR STR8 GAVE HIM AN ANIMAL CARCASSE???  and walked off and our investigator dropped the body in the fridge, rinsed his hands off, and sat back down like nada happened.  baha how freaky is that??  I mean like, that´s nice having your food dropped at the door bahaha but a whole body??  lol Tina keeps me on my toes for sure.

OH ANOTHER RAD THING!!
there´s this super tight amazing family that I love is super into boxing.  AND THEY´RE GONNA TEACH me how to box and I´m so pumped!!!  First, you´ll catch me embarking on early morning runs and drinking raw eggs despues (after), and then as I get more pro, Eddy (Sister Edwards, Syd's companion) and I are gonna hit up the local Carniceria (butcher shop) and get our Rocky on with the hanging cow bodies bahaha (Eew, definitely won´t but who knows.  Sydney Stallone, anybody?)

lol, I choked on an opportunity to do my Kermit Thang at a lunch but I left my water bottle in our appartment and you can´t drink the tap water here lol.  It was the most uncomfortable experience I have had here baha.  The hubby was mad about something and the Wifey was mad about something and you could straight up taste the tension in the air and I didn´t understand anything cuz they were speaking fast hahaha it was so awkward I loved it.

Random, one of my investigators looks like a latin Zoolander so it´s cool aaand, the greatest hits of Paul Simon have been running through my head all week so that´´s been a delightful taste of home.

I LOVE YOU ALL AND I MISS YOU LIKE I MISSED THE SOLAR ECLIPSE haha

Hita H

this perro followed us around for the entirety of our day this week haha

being basic w. eddy lol it was so cold that day

My comp with a bracelet of goat feet(??not sure??) in her hair and our pal Mailen.

I don´t wanna be that guy... but... I´m definitely that guy lol

OMG SO FIRST.

I love all of you and thank you so much for all the support!!!  I would be more lost than a white girl who only speaks English in a country full of people who only speak Spanish with out you!!!  Lol, good thing I know at least a little so I´m not that chick (;

k but rillo (really).

spanish is WAY different than castallano.  it´s supposed to be the same language. (I thought it was the same language lol) but don´t be fooled!!  The palabras are so different it´s so weird haha people will say things and it just doesn´t register cuz they all sound different!!  Cuz they have a "shuh" sound instead of a "yuh" sound. yikes.  (except here it sounds like shikes) lol

okay, before I get into that good good Tina info, let´s have a rq tbt. (real quick htrow back to)

Remember my good pal, David A. Bednar?  yeah, me too.  He´s a pretty cool guy.  Anyways, he heard that I was leaving for the mission in the next week!  So he thought he´d introduce me to another one of his good pals.  So, in the devo on Sunday, ya boi M. Russel Ballard came and spoke for us on Sunday!!!  So we´re basically best friends now, no biggy.

lol so everyone leaving the MTC was the weirdest experience evar, no joke like what the john.  It was like the most abrupt finish to anything ever??  no se, my dudes.  But funny story.  So there were 2 elders in our zone not going to our mission and they had different flight plans than everyone going to tina.  They left at like 4:30 am.  So, nal and I did what any self-respecting pals of missionaries leaving mega early would do!  We visited them to see them off at 4:30 am!  It was the perfect movie moment.  Everyone came out of there apartments and met under a specific lamp post (carefully chosen the night before) and saw them off.  Lol nal and I ran up to them to say bye, obvi in a movie it´d be in slow-mo with dramatic music playing and right as we got to each other with arms extended ***SKRRTTT**** (record scratch) we shook hands.  And that experence basically explains the MTC goodbye experience lol what a let down.

um, the flights here were pretty standard airplane experiences.  You kinda just sit for a long time and don´t sleep much.  PERO (but), on the overnight flight to buenos aires I made a friend!!  He  had just gotten back from a pretty intense game of field hockey (which, oddly enough is actually popular here??) and actually won the game!  Which was against the national US team!!  So, I´m also best friends with a member of the Tinan field hockey team, so catch me in the 2018 olympics with my pal.  I´ll probably be the water gurl or something, nbd(no big deal).

I LOVE THE TOWN I´M IN!  It´s so cool!  Very quaint.  Catch me roaming the streets on google earth lol HMU @ 775 Street Flesia 43 Coronel Pringles, Buenos Aires, Argentina 8000.  It´s actually super cute and pretty fun!  And pretty safe (don´t worry mom <3) I´ve only had to throw rocks at dogs once!

The food is suprisingly bland.  We´d joke at home when the meals had a theme of a certain color!  The theme for every meal (mostly) here is white.  And not v (very) flavorful haha so I don´t rly (really) have to worry about eating something I hate cuz it´s all the same!  Semi squishy but overall dece (decent)!

It´s surprisingly freezing here lol I sleep every night in my socks, ski tights, sweats, long sleeve, hoodie, buff, and with about 4 heavy blankets on top haha layers are the key to success in freaking tina I suppose.

I´m slowly getting better at the lang, and slowly catching more.  It seriously seems like some people here can recite an entire novel in castellano without taking a breath lol and when I ask them to say it again slowly, they say it again about 5 decibels louder lol send help.

My comp is lit and it´s a blast roaming the streets of Pringles with her.  Her name is Hermana Edwards and she´s been here over a year now wow.

so, subject...  I´m that annoying missionary that never has enough time to email back so plz don´t hate me this was the one bandwagon I didn´t wanna hop on pls send me stuff but remember that I will do my best to email you back I love you sm (so much) <3

also, everyone here calls me hermanita lol it´s cute

LOVE YOU ALL
Hermanita Sherr (how they say my name)

*inTeRNal ScrEAmING*

okay, so, um, yes, well, um...

MY DUDES I HAVE 38 1/2 HOURS UNTIL I GET ON MY WAY TO TINA.

and that is all I needed to say in this email.

jk, jk, I have more than just that baha, the MTC isn't that insanely uneventful.

On my first MTC fast Sunday, I learned to be so much more grateful for normal fast Sundays.  We get up at the same time and have nonstop meetings and things to do until we eat dinner and holy cow.  I get kinda antsy and weird on normal fast Sundays??  But when they require you to use brain power for the entire day instead of napping away 3 hours of the day, fast Sundays become a little, as Clifford the Big Red Dog would say, "Ruff." (lol so sorry for that, I had to.) OH! also, on sundays we get to watch church movies (yay wow movies oh my) and we usually go as a district and bring snacks, it's cute, whatever.  BUT this past sunday they didn't let us choose our own movie and I was mega salty about that.  Instead we watched Characters of Christ (an incredible thing by ya boi Bednar) which was gr8 but I'd already seen it so my extra waxy, fasting self was unstoked.  BUT after Characters of Christ, BEDNAR PULLED THE BIGGEST CURVE I'VE EVER SEEN AND SHOWED UP AT THE MTC TO SPEAK WITH THE MISSIONARIES.  So I guess you could say that I'm basically best friends with an Apostle now because I was in the same auditorium as him and he answered the question of a girl I kinda know from USU even though we never spent time together lol.

um, nothing exciting for the next few days, saw some people I knew in the tour line and said hey like the ex-dreads-having-little-savage I am.  Uhh, I ate cereal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner one day cuz the caf food was not particularly appetizing lol.  And... Naluai and I successfully convinced the zone that my visa didn't get here and that I'm staying in Ogden for a transfer so I won't be flying with all of them >:) here's the story:

I got called down to the front desk for something so I had to leave in the middle of class with Naluai.  So, nervous thoughts are running through my head because the dude on the phone just said that it was urgent and that my comp and I had to go to the desk immediately.  We get there, they direct us to another room.  We arrived and this lady has us sit down and said, "so you got your travel plans, right?  No one has changed them?"  and I'm thinking that she's about to tell me that I've been transferred to Ohio, then the lady just asked Naluai to take some stuff to 'Tina with us cuz some silly Elders forgot their license and Debit card.  Now, I'm relieved and we grab the stuff and head back to class.  And then, cuz I'm that ex-dreads-having-little-savage, I turn to Nal and suggest that we prank the zone.  So we do.  And they all think I'm going to Ogden. (:< which I'm not.

The next day was the in field orientation thing, which was 9 hours of sitting around and doing missionary stuff.  It wasn't that exciting and it took over our recess time sooo I wasn't hype in the slightest.  I thought that nothing would be there to entertain me, PERO I was wrong!  Which was such a blessing.  In my class group there was an Elder who looked exactly like a young Alan Rickman.  So, he probably thought I was creeping on him all day, which tbh (to be honest)I was, because I would just kinda watch him and quote Galaxy Quest in my head and entertain myself pretending Alan Rickman was j chillin in the MTC.

ALSO, and this may just be the hottest goss in the MTC as of rn (right now)...  and I know I'm not supposed to gossip, but my dudes.  This was juicier than a freakin' 'tinan steak I may end up eating in the next 16 months.  There was a little play during the orientation.  And during this play...  A sister had her HEAD on some rando Elder's SHOULDER!!!!!!  They were like lowkey cuddling and we all basically lost our minds over it and I'm so dead is was so funny.

Um, no tengo mas informacion, pero...  The Spanish is going well!  I'm feeling confident after this ~nice~ pep talk from our very own Elder Johnson.  He said, "So basically we're just gonna end up taking a bunch of L's in Argentina before coming out with that ultimate W."  I'm stoked to learn more Spanish!  And I guess I'll be okay with taking a buncha L's!

LOVE YOU ALL AND THANK YOU FOR ALL THE SUPPORT <3 see you on the flip side in ARGENTINA!  Not Ogden lol I'm too mean.

WWKD? (what would kermit do?)

aight, 2 PSAs to start off this lovely email to all you incredible people:
1) for the duration of this email if you see a (PT) it's an indication of something I viewed as a "power trip."
2) after this guy, I only have 70 big emails to send and then I'll be home!  That feels like a way short amount of time to me.
Also, I figured that out because of mere curiosity, don't start calling me trunky, you bunch of savages.

okay to start off this week...
WE HAD SUCH A GOOD LESSON WITH DIANA!!!  We spoke really well with her and it was super lit and she loved us and I was so excited she only called us nuns once!  Also, a quote from our boi Elder Pratt, "Always be a Tigger, don't let the Eyores get you down."  And that's kinda been my motto for this week I guess?  Lol, y'all know that I spit basically str8 salt todo al tiempo, pero this week I've been tryna be mega positive (which really means internalize the salt that I usually share) and it's been super great!  This is where I can tie in the subject, I guess.  You all should be aware of the Kermit meme where he sees something shady or something happens and he just sips his tea ( if you haven't ask your kid or something to hook you up).  I have lived that meme for this past week.  And I'm proud!  I haven't shared my shade or my salt!  For example, the same little Elder Pratt (lol he's so clueless about the things he says) was talking about how when we all get home it'll be our jobs to get jobs, "except the hemanas, they'll just get married."  and not a word came from my mouth as I brought my hydroflask to my lips and drained it to about halfway (it's a liter bottle).  Baha, WWKD has been a nice motto bc I'm super hydrated and my skin is looking gr8!

oh, um, and, we got our travel plans, that was pretty cool too.  Haha, the lowercase letters make it seem like I'm totally calm about this insane thing, but MY DUDES WE HAVE OUR TRAVEL PLANS!!!!  I am so beyond excited I've been bouncing off the walls since we got them yesterday!!!  My prison sentence has an end date!!  I am free from the MTC on August 14 and we fly to Georgia at 2 and then to Buenos Aires from Georgia!!  And basically the entire zone is going to be on the same flight!!!  I'm so crazy excited for this, the words you are reading through this email do not do my excitement any justice at all.  I HAVE 9 DAYS TIL FREEDOM!  You already know how pumped I am for a breath of fresh, clean, wonderful, non-happy valley air.

Next, we have a new set of things put onto our schedule that we will be doing at the start of class, all implemented by our great and precious district leader, Eternal General Secretary of the Party**, Elder Campbell decided that we should have a spiritual thought on top on top of the scriptures and purpose that we're already saying aloud before class (PT).  And we had our seats switched around so all the desks are lining the walls and we get to turn our chairs completely around to see the wall (PT) and we also almost didn't get to go to the temple at 7 am this morning because ~someone~ didn't want to follow the zone tradition because the mistaken schedule says otherwise (PT).  I apologize that you must read through this rant, so move on whenever you feel done, but yes.  This has bothered me all week and has been a helpful source of hydration.  Haha, it isn't even a big deal, but his type A qualities trigger my type A qualities which, in turn, help me to drink more water.

My people.  My MTC stay is almost over and I'm almost in another country that I've never been to speaking a language that I'll forever need more practice in (especially since english is hard for me sometimes) BUT I'M SO PUMPED.

also, I saw JamesTheMormon in the tour line while I was at recess and only 3 tears rolled down my cheeks, lowkey (highkey) love that man, moving on.

uhhh, so yes.  That's all I got!

I love you all and I can't wait to share more with you on my FINAL EMAIL FROM THE MTC!!!!

HH!

Tryna vogue at the temple

Floral Friday! (yes, the MTC has turned me into one of those girls lol jk)

one last thing...

I forgot about the ** I put on one of the titles for Elder Campbell..

It's funny because that's what the people of North Korea call Kim Jong-il

so now that you get it, you can totally laugh about it, not just in a pity way

Notes from Denice:

I spit basically str8 salt todo al tiempo, pero this week  -  that means I spit basically straight salt(sarcasm) all the time, but this week...

feliz navidad
